— Trial Counsel Magic Circle Firm

Overview

Ryan Cooper is a Partner at Jim Coates Law, where he leads the firm's appellate practice. A former judicial assistant at the Court of Appeal, Ryan brings exceptional legal writing and oral advocacy skills to every matter, whether advising trial teams or handling appeals before the senior courts of England and Wales.

His practice encompasses civil appeals, public and constitutional law, judicial review and interim relief, and intervenor briefing. Ryan has argued cases before the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, and the High Court.

Ryan is frequently engaged by trial counsel—both from Jim Coates Law and other firms—to assist with complex legal issues at all stages of litigation. He helps identify winning legal theories, draft dispositive applications, and preserve issues for appeal.
